Barry-Eaton District Health Department Clears Cirque Italia Water Circus to Reopen Following Corrective Actions
May 30, 2026
The Barry-Eaton District Health Department (BEDHD) has confirmed that corrective actions have been completed at the Cirque Italia Water Circus event site located at 5330 W. Saginaw Highway in Lansing.
On May 29, 2026, BEDHD identified a discharge of sewage and wastewater onto the ground in the parking lot area of the site during an onsite investigation. The department determined that the conditions posed an imminent public health hazard and required immediate corrective action under the Michigan Public Health Code.
Following the investigation, BEDHD worked with event operators and property representatives to address the issue and restore safe sanitary conditions at the site.
After reinspection and verification that the necessary corrective measures were completed, BEDHD has determined that conditions now meet public health requirements for operation.
The event is permitted to reopen to the public effective May 30, 2026.
“Protecting public health and safety remains our top priority,” said Rebekah Condon, Health Officer. “We appreciate the cooperation of event operators and property representatives in addressing the issue quickly and taking the necessary steps to correct the problem.”
BEDHD also recognizes the exceptional collaboration among local partners throughout the response. The department appreciates the support and coordination provided by Eaton County agencies and officials, whose teamwork, professionalism, and shared commitment to public health helped resolve the issue quickly and effectively.
BEDHD remains committed to working alongside community partners to protect the health and safety of residents and visitors throughout Eaton County.
