Childhood Immunizations
The Barry Eaton District Health Department (BEDHD) offers immunizations to people of all ages, from infants to older adults. We also provide Tuberculin (TB) Skin Tests. The appointment will be with a Registered Nurse who specializes in immunizations. During the appointment, the nurse will review your child's immunization history and offer recommended vaccines. The nurse can answer questions about the vaccines and the diseases they protect against.
It's better to prevent a disease than to have your child become ill with one. Vaccines prevent common diseases that could seriously harm infants and children. Vaccination is a safe and effective way to keep your family healthy.
Our BEDHD Immunization Clinic offers vaccines for children based upon recommendations of the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices (ACIP). For children, all vaccines that are recommended from birth through 18 years of age are available.
Ways To Pay
Immunizations don't have to be expensive as we can bill your insurance. If you don't have insurance or your insurance doesn't cover immunizations, we have special programs such as the Vaccines for Children Program that provides vaccines to children 0-18 years of age. A small administration fee may be charged for each vaccine received.
BEDHD will be happy to bill all accepted insurance plans, but any remaining balance that your insurance company does not cover, including unmet deductibles, will be your responsibility. If you have commercial insurance, you will be expected to know the following: Are immunizations covered under your plan? Is BEDHD in your network?

School, Preschool & Childcare Immunizations
Michigan Public Health Law requires that all infants and children have certain vaccinations or a valid waiver before entering public or private school or licensed childcare settings. These requirements exist to prevent the spread of disease and to prevent injury or death in the community.
Immunization records are reviewed every fall for all licensed childcare, preschool and Head Start students. Public and private schools review immunization records at the beginning of the school year for kindergartners, seventh graders and all newly enrolled students.
